'New Moon' is the sequel to 'Twilight' and follows the continuing romance between high school misfit Bella and her vampire boyfriend Edward. After they split Bella forms a strong attachment to Jacob, a local youngster who is becoming a werewolf. It was passed '12A' for moderate fantasy violence and horror.

The horror and threat in this film is moderately strong and not overly intense. There is sight of large CGI (computer-generated imagery) wolves snarling, fighting and chasing other characters and this was considered too strong for 'PG'.

The violence in 'New Moon' mostly involves supernatural creatures (vampires fighting either amongst themselves or against werewolves) and though quite physical is clearly presented in a fantastical context. Some of the vampire on vampire fight sequences include spectacular throws in which characters are hurled against walls or smashed down onto the floor (shattering marble floor tiles on one occasion). However, little blood is seen and almost nothing is shown in terms of injury detail. Emphasis is placed on the vampires' strength and relative invulnerability, and when a human is injured there is no lingering dwelling on the injuries or focus on sadism. In one very brief scene a vampire is seen to have his head and arms ripped off but there is no blood or gruesome detail.

'New Moon' also includes some mild language such as uses of 'crap' and 'fricking'.
